In cosmetics, CASTOR OIL/IPDI COPOLYMER is a film former. In practical terms, it produces a continuous film after application to skin, hair, or nails. Its purpose is connected with the layer a product leaves on a surface, rather than with the action of a free oil on the skin.
That surface film is the plausible cosmetic benefit of this copolymer: it lets a formula include a material that remains spread as a layer after use. Film forming alone does not indicate treatment for acne, dark spots, wrinkles, wounds, or disease; it describes a physical effect at the surface where the product is applied.
CASTOR OIL/IPDI COPOLYMER: conditions and care
There is an origin-related regulatory condition: Category 1 or Category 2 materials under Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009, and ingredients derived from them, are prohibited in cosmetic products.
