In cosmetics, Tocopheryl Glucoside is used as an emollient and skin-conditioning ingredient. In everyday terms, an emollient helps the skin surface feel softer and less rough; skin conditioning refers to improving the feel left by the product, not to treating a skin condition.
In an experiment using reconstructed human epidermis and a sunscreen emulsion, the delta form was absorbed more slowly and converted to delta-tocopherol. The test measured oxidative-stress markers in that formulation, together with another antioxidant, after simulated radiation; it does not show that the isolated ingredient prevents sun damage, wrinkles, or dark spots in every cosmetic product.
