The name does not mean stearin oil or pure stearic acid. It is a defined substance, also identified as N-(1-hydroxy-2-methylpropan-2-yl)octadecanamide, so in a shampoo or liquid cleanser it is a formula component rather than the product's main oily material.
STEARAMIDE AMP: what it does in cosmetics
In products that lather, STEARAMIDE AMP can boost the foam made by cleansing agents. In everyday use, that can make foam feel more present while the product is spread and worked through, particularly in rinse-off liquid formulas.
It also controls viscosity, meaning it helps adjust whether a product pours readily or feels thicker when it leaves the package. This supports consistency and the application experience; it does not by itself make a skin or hair treatment.
