SORBITAN CAPRYLATE: what it does in cosmetics
In cosmetics, Sorbitan Caprylate helps oily and watery components come together in an emulsion. In everyday terms, this can help a lotion, cream, or cleansing product that contains both water and oils stay more evenly mixed instead of separating into visible layers.
A 2024 formulation study tested this ingredient in three-component combinations with palmitoleic acid and sodium coco PG-dimonium chloride phosphate. The antimicrobial result belonged to the tested combination, so it does not show that Sorbitan Caprylate alone preserves a finished cosmetic product or provides a direct skin benefit.
