Chloride, sodium, sulfate, magnesium, calcium, and potassium are among the most abundant ions in seawater. Their amounts can vary with salinity and with the water's origin, so SEA WATER identifies a marine raw material rather than one fixed composition shared by every product.
SEA WATER: what it does in cosmetics
In cosmetics, SEA WATER can work as a solvent. In practical terms, it takes part in the water phase that dissolves or disperses soluble ingredients, helping the formula keep those components evenly distributed while the product is used.
It is also classified as a humectant, a function associated with retaining water in the preparation. Its presence can contribute to the water-based character of a formula, but it does not by itself make a cosmetic a treatment or predict a product's feel or result without the finished formulation.
