A laboratory study tested an aqueous H. rosa-sinensis flower extract on melanoma cells, not a cosmetic applied to people. That finding cannot establish that the extract in a cream, lotion, or hair product prevents or treats cancer, dark spots, acne, wounds, or wrinkles.
