In cosmetics, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer is used as a humectant, helping the preparation retain water. For the person applying the product, that is connected with keeping its texture moist and less likely to dry out while it is spread; it is not a skin treatment.
It also controls viscosity, helping set the thickness and flow of a serum, gel, or lotion so the product is neither too runny nor difficult to spread. A human patch-test study assessed the copolymer at 10% in water, not the performance of a finished cosmetic; that result does not show moisturising or therapeutic effects.
