Arginine is related to amino acids found in the body and in protein-containing foods, while arginine hydrochloride is the isolated, standardised compound rather than a blend of plant ingredients. ARGININE HCL should therefore not be confused with an oil, extract, or hydrolysed arginine protein; the label refers to the specific L-arginine form paired with chloride.

ARGININE HCL: what it does in cosmetics

In cosmetics, ARGININE HCL is used for skin conditioning. In everyday terms, that means it can contribute to a formula designed to leave skin feeling more comfortable and less rough to the touch; this role alone does not treat a skin condition or determine the finished product's result.

One open human study tested a 2.5% arginine hydrochloride ointment for four weeks and found increased urea in the stratum corneum together with rising skin moisture. That finding belongs to that ointment and follow-up, including people with atopic dermatitis or dry ageing skin, and it cannot predict the same effect from every cosmetic that lists ARGININE HCL.
